Seven Kings Welcomes The Festive Feeling With Their Fantastic Winter Fayre

Twinkling lights of all different colours lined the streets of Seven Kings on Friday evening for their Winter Fayre. Locals were treated to music, food and many other culture and leisure stalls throughout the event.

Festive music was the Fayre’s soundtrack for the evening, courtesy of Redbridge Music Lounge. From famous classics to the sounds of Christmas 2014, it certainly created the perfect atmosphere for some winter fun. It wasn’t long before pupils from Farnham Green’s School Choir, who all donned sparkly santa hats, assembled not far from Seven Kings Station to lend their angelic voices to the Fayre.

The smells of hot food being cooked to perfection while you wait Seven Kings High Road were also attracting people, especially the hungry school children! The Kitchen of Adina Oros had laid out an intriguing array of jars containing spreadable ingredients from chilli to cinnamon, there was everything you could ever need for the perfect snack on a cold winter’s night.

Along with the Christmas lights that brightened up the streets, for this special night, glow sticks were being sold and they proved to be extremely popular with all the children. There were small pockets of children whose faces were illuminated by its flashing lights and the joy that they felt! Something that definitely got all the children excited was that for one night only, part of Seven Kings High Road was cordoned off for the Fayre and the street became a chalkboard for anyone who wanted to leave a few memorable words.

Despite the chilly temperatures on the night, the event still brought everyone together. Whether it was through a love of food, music or just the company, there seemed to be a real boost in community spirit, which is especially important at Christmas time.

As the sun began to set, it was almost time for the lighting of the Christmas tree, the real highlight of the event. With the music on full blast and people of all ages milling around the different stalls, it was clear that the Winter Fayre succeeded in getting everyone in the mood for Christmas!
