Last Man Stands Redbridge – Week 3 News

Amist the rain and dark clouds Traditional Corsairs took advantage of batting first to get the better of last season runners up Eight Indians in a reduced overs game. Replying to Traditional Corsairs 117 for 6 wickets off their alloted 16 overs, the Indians could only manage 102 for 5. For the Corsairs Dar hit 53 off 32 balls while Naz Ali took 3 for 15 with the ball.

The big match of the week saw the Champions Chakwal Stars play newcomers The Black Eagles in a 17 over affair. The Eagles made a respectable 142 for 5 wickets with captain Nav Ali hitting 52 from 33 balls. The Stars reach their target with 2 overs to spare with Aumer Ali scoring a quick 50 off only 22 balls. This left the Eagles still looking for a win after 2 matches but with so much heavy weight in the side it won’t be long before they register a win.

In another 1st Division encounter STM Strikers made light work of Desi Sloggers winning with 4 overs to spare when replying to the Sloggers 127. Vivek Sharma hit 50 for the Sloggers while Taranjot Singh claimed 3 wickets for 27 runs. For the Strikers quick firing Mubashir hit 51 from 25 balls.

When it comes to dressing for LMS Matches only Chakwal Stars come close to the emaculate dressed East London Eagles. However, they are still to register a win after losing to Kerry Parker Clique, making it 3 consecutive losses. However, with points awarded for matching clothing they still sit mid table. Comes on guys its LMS dress up, match up and earn your team points.

In division 2, strong contenders PAK Warriors paid respect to Royals going down by 37 runs. Batting first Royal Panters reached 127 for 6 and then limited the Warriors to 90. What up with PAK, no need to bow – you should realised they are only Panters (not real royalty). The 2nd encounter saw Jamia East London Boys pile up a massive 182 for 3 against Brothers United, with Ateeb hitting 51 from 29 balls. When the Bothers batting they look on course for win with formed batsmen Tahir Safdar hitting 128 off 67 balls, but when Atif (33) was bowled the target proved too much depite Singh (36) supporting the high flying Tahir. The Brothers finished on 168 and the hundred by Tahir was the first for this season. “CONGRAGULATIONS” Mr Tahir Safdar, you could be heading for royalty. In the final game of the week AF (110) had the better of Lankan Stars (106). Despite losing the Stars shown bright for their LMS match and will surely shine even brighter in their next match. Division 2 table is headed by Royal Panters on run rate from Jamia EL Boys with 20 points, while the Knightriders (17) in 3rd have a game in hand.

Next week big game in div 2 see Ilford Knightriders take on AF, while in div 1 two unbeaten teams Chakwal Stars and Kerry Packer Clique will pair up.

Week commencing 16 June is Cup Week with matches being played Monday through to Thursday, full details of the CUP rules and the draw should be available during the coming week. As usual with cup matches I back the underdogs and look forward to some big upsets and the usual from you cry baby topdogs “we should have won that game”, my reply “it’s no use crying over spilt milk”.
